365 project

365 Project: March 9, 2016

As I’ve indicated on my Facebook page, I have not given up on my 365 project at all.  I’ve been shooting every day.  I just haven’t gotten a chance to catch up everything all at once.  In an effort not to get further behind, I’m going to post out of order just to get back on track.  I think in the upcoming days, while continuing to shoot daily, I’ll plan to post weekly (or maybe twice a week).

I’ve been having a lot of fun trying to get new shots and working on my editing skills during this time while the only camera I have available is my phone.  New equipment coming soon, I hope.

But, if you’ve seen any of my photos over the years, you know I love shooting flowers.  I thought this one was particularly lovely.

365 Project: January 22-24

January 22

The freezing rain (and still a little sick) kept me inside yet again.  I love the look of freezing rain on the door screen and the foggy view of the tree out back.

Still icy with a tiny bit of snow added since yesterday

So a nice warm fruit crisp with melty whipped coconut cream was in order.

January 24

The sun is finally out and is illuminating and melting the ice.

365 Project: January 18-21

I got sick a few weeks back and got behind on posting, but I’ve been shooting and will be catching up to date over the next couple days.

Apparently, when I’m home sick, I end up doing portraiture of stuffed snow men (more accurately, snow woman).

January 12:
Early morning low lying clouds looked a little like mountains in the distance.

While I’ve been recovering from my wrist surgery, I haven’t gotten to all the normal places.  Today my sweet mama drove me here.  Hello, old friend.

In case you don’t already know this about me, I’m super competitive.  I don’t like being beaten by anyone or anything.  Mind you, it happens, and I know how to be a good sport about it, but I don’t like it.

There always seem to be new things to overcome.  I’m working on (at least) 2 of those right now and today’s photo combines them.  I’m 8 weeks post wrist surgery and the occupational therapy is kicking my butt.  I’m improving, but it is hard.work. As much as it depends on me, I’m not going to let this injury beat me.

I took the picture of all my therapy homework tools because I’m looking forward to the day that I won’t need them anymore.  But, as I grow/heal in different ways I always like to be able to look back where I came from.

The second thing that I am determined not to be have beat me is the cloning tool on my photo software (Lightroom 5).  So while this would have been the perfect opportunity to show off my ginormous bottle of Texas Pete and my Wonder Woman tumbler in the background, I decided to try to clone out the background and get a handle on this tool.

A YouTube video and quite a bit of time later, I have a lovely portrait of my OT tools. ;)  The cloning isn’t perfect, I know.  I can still see a few areas where I could improve, but I’m pleased that I stuck with it and did it the best I could for where I am now.

Bonus craziness…While in the cloning process…I’m not even sure how this happened, but it looked like some kind of  80s/90s graphic that would have been used in the opening credits of Saved by the Bell.
